Future not so bright for Orange outsourcing

Mobile phone giant Orange is to shelve its outsourcing plans in order to improve customer service.

Speaking at the launch of the company’s new mobile broadband service Tom Alexander, the former chief executive of Virgin Mobile, said that the company would look closer to home to ensure high quality customer service in future.

“Orange had a strategy to offshore the vast majority, if not all, its call centres and we have stopped that,” he said.

“We got good service from the call centres in India, but we believe we can have brilliant service from our UK-based call centres.

“That is what Orange should be. It should be brilliant.”
