House of Fraser announces supply chain shift
Retail giant House of Fraser is set to improve its supply chain performance through the outsourcing of the exchange of product data between itself and its suppliers, the company has said.
The move will, the department store hopes, enable them to eliminate errors caused by poor data quality and could see sourcing times and costs dramatically reduced.
“We wanted to a get to a situation where we had one ‘push’ technology for supply data so suppliers could publish product information or amendments to us once,” Mike Hiscock, House of Fraser’s director of IT solutions told IT PRO.
“It makes it much easier for us to access product information and, from a sales perspective, we know we’re ordering the right product for sale at the right time.”
The Inovis Data Synchronisation Service will offer the company’s suppliers a collaborative platform from which data concerning price, colour and size, can be provided.
John King, House of Fraser chief executive, said: “I’d like to see the communication traffic between House of Fraser and our suppliers to be about sales, new store openings, exciting new products and our joint customers rather than about data related issues.”
