Offshoring harming IT industry, report claims
Offshoring is harming the recruitment of IT professionals in the UK, a new report has claimed.
According to the Association of Technology Staffing Companies (ATSCO), the “offshoring” of IT support jobs is deterring people from entering the industry.
ATSCO’s annual skills survey, found that average pay for low-skilled front-line staff had remained unchanged £18,000 for the past five years - managerial pay has risen by 20 per cent in the equivalent period.
The report predicted that despite concerns over data security and poor customer service, few UK firms had repatriated their technical support teams and were only likely to do so when the salaries of Indian workers rose significantly from their current levels.
