Now Morocco has the world in its sights
Morocco could become a major offshoring destination for global companies. The north African country aims to generate $1.66 billion and create 100,000 jobs with foreign investment in offshoring ventures.
Prime minister Driss Jettou said Morocco was mobilising resources to carry out the objective as a key element in its national emergency plan.
“Nearshoring” from Europe has already been encouraged and has led to a boom in call centres.
More than 100 call centres have been built in Morocco in the last five years, dealing mainly with French and Spanish companies.
They have created an estimated 10,000 jobs so far.
