In the UK, competition for top people has hit an all-time high according to the authors of a salary survey. The 2006 Salary Survey by recruitment company PSD and supply chain consultancy State
of Flux found that competition for high-calibre procurement professionals has risen as more companies demand candidates with well-rounded commercial skills as well as backgrounds in purchasing.
Step hen Fletcher, director of PSD group, said: "Demand is far outstripping supply in some areas."
An earlier survey by the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply and Croner Reward in the UK found senior middle managers had received the biggest increases this year compared to last.
Their salaries increase by 7.3 per cent to an average of £44,000, according to the survey.
