Jim Robinson - BAE Systems

Having graduated in Engineering Jim spent 20 years in the Automotive industry largely in the Sourcing and Supplier Management arena. His early career was spent in Rover Group's car operations before leaving to become Director and General Manager of Toyota's new Procurement organisation at it's European greenfield operation in Derby.

In 1994 Jim returned to Rover Group, now newly owned by BMW, as Group Purchasing Director, responsible for all its products across Land Rover, Rover, Mini and MG brands.

In 1999 Jim moved in to the A&D industry with BAE Systems, initially as   Procurement Director of its Military Aircraft Division. He now heads up BAE Systems 'Shared Services' Procurement activities, and was until recently a board member of Xchanging Procurement Services Ltd.

During his career he has also been an active member of the DTI led 'Industry Forum' Group developing the 'lean manufacturing' approach across the automotive component industry, and spent periods of time supporting local Training & Enterprise Council and Regional Development Agency activities.
