Suppliers facing more pressure as Airbus announces fresh A380 setback
Airbus has warned that production problems may cause further delays to the delivery of its A380 superjumbo.
The news, which is likely to place additional pressure on the company’s already-stretched suppliers, comes as Airbus said it needed more time and resources to keep up with its ambitious delivery plan.
Airbus CEO Tom Enders blamed the latest setback on the switch from individual production to serial production, which is already two to three months behind schedule.
"This is unfortunately not the first delay and as CEO of Airbus I have to say I regret this very much," Enders said in a conference call.
However, despite the problems, Enders claimed that the latest delay did not represent “a catastrophic scenario".
