Carillion appoints new sustainability chief

Carillion, one of the UK's largest support services and construction firms, has appointed a new head of sustainability.

Pamela Zielinski, who shot to prominence during her time working with the Scottish Parliament on its responsible purchasing strategy, will oversee the company's sustainability agenda.

Zielinski has previously worked at some of the UK's largest companies, including HSBC, Scottish and Southern Energy and Diageo.

While with Diageo, Zielinski introduced the company's 'Corporate Citizenship for Suppliers' programme - a scheme aimed at developing a set of global standards for Diageo's 40,000 global suppliers spread across 180 countries.

"Sustainability is one of Carillion's key differentiators and our objective is to build upon our credentials in this area and become a truly industry-leading company," said Don Kenny, executive director of Carillion Business Services.
