Price pressures mount for British business
British firms are feeling the pinch after price pressures soared to their highest level in a decade, a new report has found.
And according to the latest quarterly survey by the British Chambers of Commerce, its members are increasingly feeling the need to pass on the higher costs to their customers.
The study, which also found that demand was slackening as the global slowdown took hold, showed pricing intentions for manufacturing and services companies had climbed to their highest levels since records began in 1997.
“The BCC survey adds to other evidence suggesting that the economic slowdown is gathering pace, but that price pressures are still rising," Paul Dales, economist at Capital Economics told the Guardian.
