Currently responsible for all Technology Procurement, Supplier Enabled Innovation and enabling Digitalisation and Vision 2030, with an annual spend of ~$4 billion at the largest Telco in the MENA. Jasmin Abu Bakar was appointed the Chief Procurement Officer of CIMB in 2016 and is currently leading the Group’s Procurement Transformation Programme, which was commissioned as part of its Group CEO’s mid-term strategic agenda. It was aimed to drive cost optimisations and improve spend controls and spend transparency across the Group.

Jasmin is a seasoned procurement practitioner who accumulated more than 30 years of procurement and operation experiences across various industries. She is very passionate about transforming and growing procurement from a traditional operational function to a strategic function which enables the business. She is also keen in inculcating a culture of high integrity and frugality in managing a company’s spend. Since 2000, she has been highly instrumental in leading procurement transformation programmes of several public listed companies across different industries namely telecommunications, airlines and banks.

Key achievements in CIMB includes the winning of 3 awards conferred by the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (“CIPS”) in the Australasia Supply Management Awards 2018 and the Asia Supply Management Awards 2018 held in Sydney and Singapore respectively. The awards symbolyse the international recognition of the successful implementation of the Regional Operating Model which professionalised the Group’s procurement practices through capabilities such as strategic sourcing, category management, spend analytics, vendor management and contract management which is enabled through innovative procurement technology. This operating model, which includes a new governance structure, processes and a new Group Electronic Procurement System, was rolled out to Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand and will be extended to Cambodia and Vietnam.

Jasmin is a strong believer in capacity building and talent development for an organisation in pursuit of sustainable growth. She leads a team of 54 procurement team members of various background and geographies who have been crucial in driving CIMB’s transformation agenda.

He is currently the Global Process & Enablement Leader at Cargill’s Strategic Sourcing and Procurement function. This role constitutes the three areas of Design (Global Process Owner for S2P), Enablement (Technology & Data solutions) and Execution of the procurement process.
