Asia Pacific Procurement Awards 2019 Categories

Cross-Functional Collaboration Award, Partnered by Greensill

Celebrating the function embracing customer centricity for commercial results through strong internal partnerships.

Collaboration with the wider business is crucial if procurement is to make a significant impact; whether that be with finance, product development, operations or marketing or another key business function.

This category will recognise a project or initiative which has collaborated with another function or group of functions at its core and that has delivered tangible commercial benefits. Judges will be looking for specific evidence of success and the role played by procurement in the collaboration.

External Collaboration Award, Partnered by MarkIT

Showcasing the function that exemplifies the power of strong supplier partnerships for shared success and increased business value.

Procurement is in an excellent position to take advantage of the capabilities that exist in the supply base, and by collaborating with suppliers or other third parties can help both parties to succeed.

This award will recognise the collaborative efforts of an organisation and an external supplier or group of suppliers, which have had a tangible impact. Judges will look for real evidence of success in the form of improved efficiencies, innovative new approaches or product developments, reduced costs or reduced risk, among others.

Procurement Excellence Award

Rewarding the function that’s the leading example of a true business partner making a big commercial impact.

Procurement excellence can be defined as when procurement:

  • Delivers tangible results to the bottom and top line of the business; in terms of cost, risk and value creation
  • Is a strategic business function with support of the management board
  • Has key relationships with business stakeholders and is involved in strategic decisions at an early stage
  • Brings continual improvement to the function and innovation from the supply base
  • Acts in a responsible and fair manner

Procurement Leader Award

Highlighting the individual who empowers their team to succeed, together while steering their team on the function’s futuristic vision.

Great procurement leaders inspire, challenge and build great teams around them. They know when to play safe, when to take risks and are passionate supporters of the function. They are visionaries and strategists who are also able to spur on those around them to achieve great things.

The Procurement Leader award is open to all senior executives who have strategic responsibility for their organisation’s procurement function and will recognise how he or she has impacted the wider business and put procurement at the top table in their organisation.

In order to be a Procurement Leader, we understand that this might take longer than 12 months to prove, please provide the signigicant examples and achievments from their whole procurement career.

Procurement Team Award

Showcasing the function that’s truly in it together – sharing a clear purpose with a commitment to success through open communication, collaboration and trust.

This category recognises the team that has worked together to achieve a significant goal. The team will have demonstrated initiative, creativity, and drive to be a positive force for change and improvement in their business.

Judges will be looking for teams with a broad mix of skills, personalities and backgrounds which have worked together to drive world-class performance in procurement.

Transformation Award

Celebrating functions at three different maturity levels that are taking procurement to the next level in their organisation and delivering new business value.

Procurement organisations go through transformations for a number of reasons – to achieve a step change in capability, to align closer to a wider business strategy, to get closer to the business and key markets or to increase compliance, among others.

This award will reward those organisations that have achieved great things through a significant transformation whether that’s improving the quality of an under-performing function or taking an already high-performing organisation to the next level.

Innovation Award

Recognising the function capitalising on new, emerging technology to turn a challenge into an opportunity for new success.

Innovation is a popular word which is easily over-used, but in the context of these awards judges will be looking for how procurement organisations have succeeded in one or both of the following two scenarios:

  • Employed innovative new approaches or processes within the procurement function to achieve great results.
  • Helped to develop a new product or service functionality/value through the use of recognised procurement levers.

To help our judges score this category, those entering are encouraged to focus on a specific project or initiative which took place during the past 12 months. This might include a specific new tool set, process improvement or product-improvement initiative.

Corporate Social Responsibility Award, Partnered by EcoVadis

Recognising the function that’s paving the way for procurement to have a purpose and responsibility in improving the global business landscape.

With influence over thousands, sometimes tens of thousands of suppliers, this award will recognise the procurement function that has used that influence for a positive effect, while remaining financially responsible.

The award will recognise outstanding social, ethical, environmental and community-focused initiatives and judges will give particular praise to organisations that are using CSR or sustainability to gain competitive advantage.

Solution Provider of the Year Award

Highlighting the external organisation that is helping procurement to push boundaries within their business.

The solution provider and the work they do to help procurement teams attain their goals is vital to the overall achievement and development of the procurement profession.

This category is open to consultancy, outsourcing, recruitment, solutions and technology and training organisations, whose team working on the project is based within the Asia-Pacific region. This category will be assessed on both the overall ability to differentiate from competitors and the impact of a project or piece of work that stands out for results and innovation. Winners will describe a project implemented for a client that demonstrates value for money, great customer service and positive client feedback. Part of the criteria involves entrants providing a detailed and verifiable client testimonial.
